My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org
I was born and raised in Nelson and returned to the area in 2014, after working for an Auckland barrister, when I joined the lawyers at Zindels. I graduated from Canterbury University in April 2014 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce, the latter with a major in Human Resources. I was admitted to the Bar at the Nelson High Court in August 2014.
I have always enjoyed working in a people rich environment and that is what brought me to a career in the law. Throughout university I was involved in many law volunteer roles where I was able to see the importance of access to justice and my experience over the past three years has reinforced this. Being in these roles allowed me to work with people from all different backgrounds and helped me to understand the importance of the law in people’s everyday lives. I endeavour always to explain the law clearly so that my clients may understand their rights and responsibilities.
My main area of work is in Family Law and I am available to assist with parenting or guardianship disputes, domestic violence applications, Oranga Tamariki (CYPF) proceedings and relationship property. I am available to do this work on legal aid (sometimes free; sometimes there is a repayment to the government involved depending on financial circumstances) and can also provide free FLAS advice to those seeking information about how to navigate “on notice” applications to the court (where lawyers cannot act).
I am also able to assist with preparing wills, powers of attorney and probate applications.
Studying human resource management for my commerce degree has allowed me insight into employment law, and I can assist with preparing personal grievances, attending mediation and cases in the Employment Relations Authority. We can offer these services through Legal Aid or privately.
I am also available to take on cases from Marlborough and the West Coast and can seek funding from legal aid to provide these services, preferably where local practitioners are not available.
There is a variety of other cases that I or one of my colleagues can cover. If you call the office they can guide you as to who at Zindels can best help you.
