I grew up in sunny Nelson, leaving after high school to study a Bachelor of Laws and Arts, majoring in Sociology at the University of Otago. I spent my final year abroad on a University exchange in Europe before returning to New Zealand and graduating in May 2018. I worked in finance recruitment in Wellington during 2018, moving back to Nelson in February 2019 where I joined the team at Zindels. I was admitted to the Bar in April 2019 at the Nelson High Court.
I have always had a keen interest in social justice and the way in which the law can aid those who need it most. Volunteering for Dunedin’s local Community Law Centre gave me real insight into how crucial it is for people to have access not only to legal representation where they might need it, but also to information and advice. Feeling heard and respected at times of real struggle can often make the world of difference, and having someone who can clearly explain legal options and ramifications at these times can be invaluable for some. I feel privileged to work for a firm which is a committed legal aid provider and acknowledge the importance of ensuring everyone has equal access to our justice system.
Currently I work across the office assisting the partners and associates on a range of legal matters including civil, family and criminal law. I particularly enjoy civil cases and areas of contract, tort, property and family law.
I am happy to be back in my hometown of Nelson and look forward to working with the team at Zindels to provide a dedicated legal service to my local community.
